I was prompted to update my CLI and wanted to share this easy experience with everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is an easy straightforward process to check & update your favourite Azure CLI in a few minutes without leaving the command line tool of your choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are 2 commands that you would ever need going forward, assuming that your version of CLI is already “2.x”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Check your az cli version<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Just run the az version --help<\/kbd> command first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Running update on AZ CLI<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Next, run the az upgrade<\/kbd> command and press key Y<\/kbd> when prompted to continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upgrade the AZ CLI version<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

And finally, check the updated version and its extensions if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verify upraded version and Bicep<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

In case your AZ CLI is up to date, you could always run az bicep upgrade<\/kbd> command and get the job done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
